L1.2 Critical Interpretation of the Bible

Course begins Oct. 25, 2017. In this course, participants will learn how to approach the Bible in a manner that bridges the gap between church Bible study and formal academic Biblical interpretation. The intent of this approach is to create a safe space for both critical engagement and spiritual transformation. Over the course of six weeks, the participant will be encouraged to wrestle with his or her own theological reflections as well as develop skills in applying exegetical methods and biblical interpretation for today’s theological and practical concerns. Participants will be encouraged to examine how their own social location impacts his or her reading of the Bible.

Facilitator: The Rev. Dr. Ruth Shaver
